Quessy Beavertail Canoe Paddle
The Quessy beavertail canoe paddle is a brilliant all round paddle, perfect for all types of canoeing.
The beavertail blade shape provides a smooth, effective and comfortable paddle stroke. Sitting in between an ottertail design and a traditional flat-bottomed paddle a beavertail design is a versatile paddle shape. More power than an ottertail design but still easy going and efficient with the ability to be used in shallower water.
The tip of the paddle is protected with a resin coating. This provides a really hard-wearing protective layer so that you don’t have to worry about damaging your paddle when the water is shallower or in areas that have rockier more technical features.
Constructed from a combination of cherry and ash woods, the Quessy beavertail has been built to be lightweight, durable and comfortable. Ash is strong, lightweight and not overly stiff. This is perfect for the paddle shaft as it will reduce the overall weight of the paddle and the small amount of flex provided helps to take some strain from your shoulders when paddling longer distances. Cherry wood is a little bit heaver but a lot harder and makes for a durable material for the paddle blade. The paddle blade is the part of the paddle that will potentially hit a rock/take some knocks which is why there is a hard-wearing wood for the majority of the blade.
