Dagger Code

Cutting Edge River Runner and Creeker

The Dagger Code has been designed to take the confidence inspiring stability, the forgiving nature and the manoeuvrability which the Dagger Mamba was known and loved for but then to improve on the hull length and rocker profile to create a boat which carries speed and boofs well. The added length to the planning hull allows the kayak to not only pick up speed at the lead in of the rapid and through the meat but also carries speed after the feature allowing you to clear the nasty chaotic water, boils, or holes. The large rocker profile aided by this hull length makes boofing drops or poor overs easier as the bow wants to lift and stay dry when a boof stroke is placed. At this point the hull speed gained through the feature alongside the bow rocker keeps the bow up enabling the boat to skip away from the feature so there is no need to worry about being pulled back into the back wash of a hole. However, if a boof stoke is missed, and you plug the drop, then the volume distribution throughout the boat allows the kayak to surface quickly so you can paddle away. The kick rocker at the stern of the boat makes this kayak very agile and this can be seen when paddling high level runs, dodging holes on the ‘Mad Mile’ of the River Dart or when tackling more technical rivers or boulder gardens.

Another highlight and selling point of the Dagger Mamba was its reputation of being the boat to see you though you’re paddling life. Seeing you through from your first paddle stroke to dropping into your first grade five rapid, and this is something that the updated and more modern design of the Dagger Code excels in as well. The Code’s planning hull allows you to build your white water skills and experience through peeling in and out of eddy lines, ferry gliding or catching a surf on your first standing wave. The hull is forgiving, predictable, and easy to roll, making the boat ideal for a first time paddler to gain confidence and get over the fear of your first white water trip, allowing you to enjoy your paddling journey.

With the choice of two outfitting specs, ‘Action+’ and ‘Contour Ergo Creek’ you are able to choose what is suitable for your paddling level and needs. The Action+ spec offers a great starting platform for beginner paddlers looking for an outfitting which is more affordable, without compromising on skill progression.

‘Contour Ergo Creek’ outfitting is Dagger's highest spec outfitting designed for people looking to push their current white water experience level onto the higher grades. This features additional safety features alongside improved connectivity, adaptability, and comfort.

Dagger is known for its comfortable and versatile Contour Ergo Creeker outfitting and the Dagger Code is supplied with everything you would expect for a high quality, comfortable and connective river runner. The Contour Ergo Creeker seat features a comfortable seat pad and a built-in leg lifter which lifts your thighs, engaging your legs with the adjustable thigh braces and the boat. The contoured hip pads allow you to create a snug fit around your hips, providing all round connectivity while hip flicking and rolling. The adjustable ratchet backrest can be pulled in tight to not only offer back support, but also once again add an extra point of connectivity to the kayak. The Code like all great river runners comes with an adjustable full plate bulkhead foot rest, this not only provides a solid and secure foot rest but also due to the volume adjuster allows you to find the best fit for your leg length. All of this comes together to provide great comfort and support but overall amazing connectivity with the kayak, allowing you to not only drive the boat through your paddle strokes but also drive the kayak with your core and legs.

Safety is also something which has been thought about with the Dagger Code. The Creek Spec outfitting comes with a built-in step out wall centre pillar which has been designed to aid exiting the kayak in the event of a pin. However, this also acts as a great tool when carrying the kayak, as you are able to hold the pillar to steady the kayak on your shoulder. 5 anodised aluminium grab handles alloy for easy access when rescuing the kayak after a swim or in aid of a swimmer. The seat and centre pillar also offer attachment points for throwlines, first aid kits or any other essential kit which needs to be secured in the kayak when paddling.

The Dagger Code comes in three different sizes S, M and L this allows you to find the ideal for your weight and paddling style and offers the perfect fit for a wide range of paddlers.

So whether you are new to white-water paddling; looking for a forgiving kayak to develop your skills in, or a seasoned paddler looking for a confidence inspiring river runner for local UK rivers or creeking abroad, then the Dagger Code could be the ideal boat for you.
