The Perception Essence has a modern hull design that uses the latest technology to allow novice and expert kayakers to push their sea touring to a new level. The hull incorporates a strong V shaped bow and stern that makes the hull ridged and very quick to paddle for a boat of its length, its defined chines provide accurate directional stability and impressive edge control. It’s the ideal boat for touring on rivers, harbours, and those long days out on the, it even holds its own in the surf and tidal races.

The Essence is fully equipped with 3 storage hatches that have access to a separate bulkhead compartment. Included is a small day hatch that is easy to reach, a round bow hatch and a larger stern. This will give you plenty of room for storage from those days out and right the way thought to long multiday expeditions.

The Zone EXP seating system found in the Essence brings you an expedition grade outfitting without compromising on comfort. This seating system gives you the ability to adjust the backrest and has an adjustable leg lifter that allows you to raise the seat and drive your thighs into the thigh braces to give you that better point of contact. It comes complete with adjustable thigh braces, adjustable footrests and a finally tuned TruTrack skeg with a wire driven system to lock in the tracking and maintain a heading in winds and current. For those who want to leave the safety of the shore, a recess on the bow will allow you to mount a compass to keep you on the right course.

The Essence is available in 2 sizes to suit a range paddler sizes, both the Essence 16 and 17 models are both available with a rudder. The Essence features everything you would expect from a sea kayak of this size.
