The Nova Craft Prospector 17 is referred to by Canadian paddlers as ‘the workhouse of the Canadian North’ due to the fact that it is one of the most versatile canoes on the market. The TuffStuff canoes are a blend of basalt and Innegra fibres. Basalt fibres are made of melted volcanic basalt rock and Innegra is a fibre consisting mostly of polypropylene. These are woven together into a cloth and mixed with high impact vinylester resin. A result of TuffStuff, the canoes are amongst the strongest and most versatile on the market today. Tuffstuff canoes are a great choice for paddlers looking for a lightweight canoe for use on flat water.

The Prospector 17 is also available with Nova Craft's SP3 material which offers additional durability for white water canoeing but it is heavier than TuffStuff.
