Old Town Heron 9 XT
At 9ft 6in and only 18.1kg, the Old Town Heron 9XT is one of our shortest and lightest open top touring kayaks. Designed for paddlers not looking to feel enclosed, the large open cockpit keeps the worst of the elements away and is a great option for people looking to move away from Sit On Top kayaks.
Moulded in the US from high density polyethylene, the Heron 9XT is light strong and stable, with a bulkhead and separate hatch to give some inherent buoyancy. While the stability allows the use of the pair of Flush mount rod holders behind the seat without risk of capsize. If distracted fishing or chilling, the paddle holder along the side of the kayak keeps you from being up a creek without propulsion.
Comfort wise Old Town have put their Comfort Flex seat in the Heron 9XT, with back and seat padding, allowing paddlers to get the support they need while pushing off from the support Track foot brace system and the thigh pads on the cockpit rim.
